The Secret Life of Bees


Okay,
I am so excited!!! One of my favorite books is being turned into a movie. The book is titled, "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. This is a powerful coming-of-age story about the ability of love to transform our lives. The movies stars the talented young Dakota Fanning. The beautiful songstress, Jennifer Hudson, and the wonderful Ms. Queen Latifah. It will be in theaters October 2008!!! Click the link below to check out a trailer from the movie. I agree, this is a fabulous story. I loved it, too! I had now idea it was being made into a movie. I'm very excited now! I'll have to go watch the trailer. Thanks for the heads up on this one. I'm going to start Kidd's next book, "The Mermaids Chair" while on vacation in a couple weeks. I hope it's as good as 'Bees."

I loved this book, too! I thought it was fantastic! I had no idea it was being made into a movie...that's just fabulous news!
I am going to start Kidd's second novel, "The Mermaid's Chair" on my vacation in a couple weeks. I hope its as good as "Bees."

Woooohoooo! I loved that book! And I need to tell Em she will ALSO love The Mermaid Chair (tho' maybe not QUITE as much.) Wouldn't it be awesome if we all lived near enough to go see the movie together?

Hi Elaine~ I did just finish reading "The Mermaid Chair", also by Susan Monk Kidd. And when I went to the library to return it, this book (The Secret Life of Bees) was already checked out! I'm on the waiting list!

I cannot wait to see the movie either. My 'W' magazine just had a profile of Dakota Fanning that won me over. I wanted to see Jennifer and Queen, of course, but was torn about Dakota. Now I'm convinced...
